Radical and brilliant, Gavin Bryars is
Britain's most influential composer musician of the current
generation. The Gavin Bryars Ensemble regularly plays to
sellout seasons throughout the UK and Europe and this short
concert series will feature some of Bryars' most moving and
epic works including Jesus' Blood
Never Failed Me Yet,
The Sinking of the
Titanic and one of his latest
works A Man In A Room,
Gambling. Bryars has worked with
Philip Glass, Brian
Eno, Tom Waits,
Julian Lloyd
Webber and the English National Opera.
Australian composers and musicians appearing with the
Gavin
Bryars Ensemble include the
David
Chesworth Ensemble,
Margaret
Haggart and introducing the
new Melbourne based quartet deFlocked.
This concert series curated by Tyrone Landau is the Gavin
Bryars Ensemble's first visit to Australia and is exclusive
to Contemporary Music Events and the 1997 Melbourne
Festival.
